When you place an order with Mintek, you’re getting more than material – you’re getting a delivery process built around reliability, communication, and flexibility. Every project runs on timing, and our goal is to make sure your material arrives when and where you need it, without added stress.

Here’s a clear look at how our process works from start to finish, and what you can expect when you order from us.

Placing Your Order

Orders can be placed by phone or email, whichever works best for you. Most customers place their order by 10:00 AM EST the business day before delivery, and that timing gives us the best chance to secure trucks for the next morning. The earlier we know about your order, the more options we have for scheduling.

We’ll always do our best to accommodate later requests. Just keep in mind that drivers who don’t have early-morning work lined up will take other jobs. For example, if an order arrives at 4:00 PM for next-day delivery, we will absolutely try to secure a truck, but availability isn’t guaranteed simply because the pool of drivers is smaller.

What Happens After You Order

Once your order is in, our dispatch team takes over. They begin by confirming material availability at the loading plant. From there, we determine whether you’re sending your own carrier or if you’d like us to arrange transportation through our nationwide carrier network.

Most customers prefer that we manage the logistics. If we’re handling your delivery, we secure the carrier, schedule the loading window, and coordinate the route and timing. For customers paying by ACH or credit card, payment simply needs to be received by Accounts Receivable before dispatch.

Once these steps are complete, your delivery is officially in motion.

Material Pickup and Transportation

The carrier arrives at the plant, the material is loaded, and the shipment begins its route to your jobsite. We match each delivery to the method that fits your project, access conditions, and volume.

Bulk Trucking

Bulk orders typically move using pneumatic trailers, dump trailers, or bottom hoppers – each generally carrying around 25 tons. Pneumatic trucks are ideal for direct loading into spreaders or onsite storage PIGs, while dump and bottom hopper trailers keep bulk deliveries straightforward and efficient.

Supersacks

For projects with tight access or smaller tonnage requirements, supersacks travel via flatbed trailers. A standard load includes 18 supersacks, totaling approximately 22.5 tons, and each individual supersack contains about 1.25 tons.

Rail Deliveries

For high-volume jobs near rail infrastructure, rail service offers reliable, consistent movement of material. It’s ideal for long-term, large-scale, or steady-flow projects. Each rail car holds an average of 95 tons

Barge Deliveries

River-accessible jobsites can take advantage of barge transport, which offers significant tonnage capacity and cost efficiency for very large projects. On average, a barge holds 1,700 tons of material.

Whatever your job requires, we select the method that makes the most sense for your schedule and your site.

Mintek Delivery Options

Delivery at Your Jobsite

When the shipment is on the way, drivers receive clear instructions about delivery times, site access, contacts, and unloading requirements. Our dispatch team manages these details so drivers arrive prepared and your team knows exactly what to expect.

Consistency makes delivery even smoother. A project that needs one load per day, for example, allows us to secure the same truck (and often the same driver) for weeks at a time. That familiarity leads to fewer questions, fewer delays, and more efficient operation on your job site.

Tips For Smooth Scheduling

While we’re flexible and committed to accommodating your project needs, a few best practices help ensure everything flows smoothly:

  • Order by 10:00 AM EST the business day prior (Friday for Monday deliveries).
  • Regular ordering patterns help us secure trucks long-term. One load per day is easier to fulfill than two loads every other day.
  • You can order by phone or email – whatever is easiest for you.
  • You’ll work with the same dispatchers each time, so your contacts become familiar with your site, your drivers, and your preferences.

These small advantages make a big impact on keeping your job running smoothly.

FAQs

What delivery methods does Mintek offer?

We provide bulk deliveries (pneumatic, dump, and bottom hopper), flatbed deliveries for supersacks, as well as rail and barge shipments for high-volume or infrastructure-supported jobs. We also offer onsite storage PIGs.

How far in advance should I place an order?

We recommend ordering by 10:00 AM EST the business day before delivery. Later notices are often workable, but early scheduling significantly improves truck availability.

Can I use my own carrier?

Yes. You can dispatch your own truck to pick up the material, or Mintek can arrange the carrier for you – most customers choose this option to simplify logistics.

Do you require payment before dispatch?

Customers paying by ACH or credit card must submit payment before the load is dispatched. Customers on credit terms follow standard agreements.

Do you offer onsite storage?

Yes. Our storage PIGs (approximately 100-ton capacity) allow material staging onsite for long-term or continuous-supply projects.

Does ordering consistently affect truck availability?

Yes. Predictable schedules make securing reliable long‑term trucking much easier.
